NUWARA ELIYA

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the hill country of the Central Province, Sri Lanka. Its name means "city on the plain (table land)" or "city of light". Nestled in the picturesque hills of the central highlands, Nuwara Eliya is a charming little town and Sri Lanka’s highest at 1,868 meters above sea level. Affectionately called “Little England” due to its colonial architecture and cool climate, Nuwara Eliya is surrounded by lush tea plantations and offers breathtaking views of the hills and valleys and on a clear day, of Pidurutalagala, Sri Lanka’s highest mountain.

No visit to Nuwara Eliya is complete without a visit to one of the many tea plantations in the region. The emerald-green tea plantations that carpet the rolling hills are not only beautiful but also a key part of the region’s heritage

PEDRO TEA ESTATE

Pedro Tea Estate

is easily accessed from Nuwara Eliya. It was established in 1885 and still has some of the old machinery in place. You should allow 20 minutes for touring the factory, although because of the type of tea they produce, the factory only operates at night. However you can still tour during the day.Enjoy a cup of their famous black tea in their Lovers Leap Ethical Tea Boutique and whilst they offer tasting sessions of other teas, this wasn’t available when we visited. You can also explore the plantation and try your hand at tea picking; which we did despite the rain. The factory tour takes about 20 minutes and costs 500 LKR per person.

HORTON PLAINS NATIONAL PART and WORLD's END

 Horton Plains National Park and World’s End

This national park is perfect for nature enthusiasts and hikers, comprising a mixture of vast grasslands and beautiful cloud forests.The park’s most famous feature, World’s End, is an breathtaking cliff with a sheer drop of about 880 metres. Horton Plains National Park elevated at 6,900–7,500 ft is a famous tourist destination and a UNESCO World Heritage Site near Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. Get mesmerizing views from World's End cliff and Baker's Waterfalls. Witness the rich biodiversity get a chance to see Dull-blue Flycatcher, endemic Rhino-horned lizards, Yellow-eared Bulbul, Sri Lanka Bush Warbler, etc.

VICTORIA PARK

Victoria Park

Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka, is a picturesque public park renowned for its lush greenery, vibrant flower beds, and serene atmosphere. Established during the British colonial era, the park offers a peaceful retreat with well-maintained lawns, walking paths, and a variety of flora. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll, birdwatching, and the charming ambiance, making it a must-visit attraction in the heart of Nuwara Eliya.

GALWAY'S LAND NATIONAL PARK

Galway's Land National Park

One of the newest and the smallest National Parks, Galway's Land is a dense forest. This is another best places to visit in Sri Lanka. This park is situated at within the city limits of Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka. This National Park was declared as a sanctuary in the year 1938. Apart from the avifauna, the park has valuable floral species of both native and foreign origin. The park is open 6 AM- 5PM. The National Park is a habitat to 10 Sri Lankan endemics, Wild boar, Barking deer and exotic birds.

ST. CLAIRS FALLS, TAWALANTENNE

St. Clairs Falls, Tawalantenne

If you are planning to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life then St, Clair Falls is the perfect option for you. Also, known as the Little Niagara of Sri Lanka this is one of the wildest waterfalls here. It is one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka and is commonly known as the "Little Niagara of Sri Lanka". There are two waterfalls namely Maha Ella " Maha Ella " (Sinhalese "The Greater Fall"), (260 ft) high and "Kuda Ella", (Sinhalese "The Lesser Fall"), which (160 ft) high and located immediately downstream of the main fall. These breath taking waterfalls are located along the Kotmale River.

LOVERS LEAP WATERFALL

Lovers leap waterfall

Lovers leap is an impressive water fall which is known for its romantic folklore. To reach this place one has to go through the tea factory and reach the tea manager’s bungalow along a dirt road. Visitors can reach this destination by following the signs that are there and eventually one can reach a rock face and a Shiva shrine. Just beyond the shrine one can see the cascading water fall. Legend has it that lovers have leapt to their deaths from this water fall and hence the name Lovers Leap.

LAKE GREGORY

Lake Gregory

Nuwara Eliya’s Lake Gregory offers tourists a perfect natural environment to stroll with less noise. Go sail on the calm waters or stroll along the shoreline. The lake is ideal for birding since many species can be found around it. There are places designated for picnics, which are always good for taking a break and getting a tan. When the sun goes down, the lake’s water mirrors the hills, perfectly illustrating Sri Lanka’s hill chart.

ADAMS PEAK

Adams peak

Adam's Peak is a famous mountain and tourist attraction having its summit at an altitude of 2243 m. Also known as Sri Pada, (sacred footprint), the famous spot is situated in Southern Sri Lanka which is revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Christians and Muslims. Embark on a fun and enthralling overnight trek to Adam's Peak and climb up approximately 5500 steps to reach the summit. Enjoy a magical sunrise from the top with your companions and create some lasting memories of this experience!
